Beard oil has two jobs: soften the hair and comfort the skin underneath. Two to four drops of cosmetic argan oil, worked in after washing, usually cover both without a greasy finish.

Wash face and beard, towel so hair is damp. Warm 2 drops in your palms for a short beard, up to 4 for a longer one. Work through the hair, then massage the skin beneath — that is where dryness and itch start.
Comb or brush after the oil is distributed. If the beard looks wet ten minutes later, use fewer drops tomorrow.
